The manager of a recruitment and employment working people abroad states:
“Working with people is the most difficult job!”

Even if we try, more or less to stop the young people to leave the country, by providing them and their potential employers facilities, the phenomenon gets bigger, more and more young people choose to go abroad, considering that only there can be paid for their work and for their knowledge. Some of them return after they saved enough money to start a decent way of living, meanwhile others prefer to start a new live far away from the leaving place. For those who want to try their luck in another country there is a big problem: is or isn’t serious the firm they decided to ask for help? It is difficult to answer this question, most of the time. We have discovered an agency which we can’t contest the credibility: Knightsbridge International Recruitment.

The one who set the basis for this agency, the owner and manager is a British citizen, Aly Pardhan. Everything started with his hazardous visit in Romania, the last year, when the young man was surprised that the country is indeed beautiful, the people are completely different from what is was said abroad and above all, the big majority, English speakers. From this point to the one of opening such an agency was only a step. At first, the objective of the company was to recruit and employ IT specialists in countries such Dubai and UK where these qualifies people were needed badly. But the governments of these countries covered this lack in a short period of time; this made the company to change the orientation. In this moment, the activity domain of Knightsbridge is to recruit and employ nurses and qualified personnel for hotels.

As we know, In Dubai, the tourist’s fluency is very big; this explains the need of this country to import qualified personnel in this domain. Regarding the nurses, it’s not new the fact that all over the world but especially in countries such USA, Canada, UK, there is a big lack of qualified personnel in this domain, meanwhile in Romanian a lot of nurses can’t be employ for the lack of vacant positions.

The contracts for UK in the hotels system, are made for a period of time of 1 year, the main condition is a good knowledge of English language and age under 31 years old. For the jobs which require the contact with the tourists, such as waiter or bartender, the level of the spoken language, English, must be superior besides the level for a chef, i.e. The majority of the ones who fill in the application form on the website www.ki-recruit.com (the first step to get in touch with the agency) are attracted by the contract in UK. The reason is simple: the UK salaries are usually bigger than those offered in Dubai for the same qualification. Thus, if in Dubai a waiter gets $300-$400/month plus accommodations and food, in UK the salary rises to aprox $1200/month for the same facilities.

From the moment the candidate’s file is completed (containing the police certificate, the copy of the passport, the analyzes result, etc) and the candidate passed the interview, he/she has to wait not more than 2-3 weeks till the offer arrives. After the filling in the application on the website, the candidates for a job in Dubai or UK are scheduled for an interview in 3 or 4 days. 5 people are scheduled for an interview daily, but only 3 or 4 shows up, thus the credibility of the candidate being tested form this first step.

Who the people inquiring a job abroad? Especially the young people are willing to make this step, but this is not a rule. For as long as they know that they have a contract to fulfill (i.e. in England, the working program is 48 hours/week) and that after the contract expires they have to return to Romania, the ones who leave have nothing to loose. In the contrary coming back in the country such a “trip” can only help them in the future, because of the experience gained, to find a better job, much better paid. They come to know and to work according with the standards from abroad rising up their expectations and selling their “skin” to a better price. The years spent abroad and the knowledge of a foreign language to a higher level make the CVs for the ones returned in the country to be regarded differently.

From what the owner and manager of KI says, there are three reasons for people to contact such agencies: 1st the money which they expect to earn and they usually do and than the professional experience but also the personal one. All three reasons are important.

Asking Aly Pardhan if it is difficult the job he’s doing, we weren’t surprised to find the answer, which, between us, should discourage the ones who expect easy earned money, without patience and courage. Translated in Romanian, because the short time spent in Romania wasn’t enough for him to get used completely with the language, the answer would sound like “Working with people is difficult! You have to deal with all kinds of personalities and the responsibility is big enough”

Regarding the near future plans of the firm, because they do not stop here, the manager confided us that for the moment he’s working on getting contracts for Canada and USA, where, as I said, the need for medical qualified personnel is big and also he wants to put in practice the initial idea- to give the possibility for young, talented people who work in IT domain to work in UK and Dubai. Interesting is the fact that the young manager pleads for their return in the country, being sure that in 2-3 years, Romania would be different. Other domains in which the agency wants to try up would be the recruitment and employment of personnel in administration in Dubai and constructions in UK. Being asked why does he go on this business, the manager said 1st for pleasure and because he has the possibility to travel a lot and than because of the $, which we can understand, the agency being at the beginning.

As there are people who wants to work legally, without spoiling more the image of our country, there are also companies which choose the legal way, even if the purpose is the same- to make some money. In the end, the interest is for the both parts; the ways, most of the times are different. If you know how to search, leaving the naivety and taking all the precocious measures, it is impossible not to find a “good faith” company which can help you to fulfill what you want!
